We will be discussing how difficult is it to level up certain dishes in Restaurant City. The purpose for this will be to pick the easier dishes, and go with them. The reason for this is that the quicker you can level up a dish, the more gourmet points you will have, and therefore be a higher level in the game. This eventually leads to more money, and unlocking more features.
This is setup on a formula that considers both:
How likely someone is to trade with you, and
The current level of demand for those ingredients (using the Market app on Facebook’s statistics).
Add together the 3 (or 4) ingredient’s total amount needed in the game (aka Inventory Ingredient Value) (i.e. For Onion Soup; Onion = 30, Garlic = 40, Bay Leaf = 40), then divide by 2060 (>the total amount of ingredients needed in the game), and multiply the answer by 100. This gives you a percentage of, out of all the ingredients you need, how many are ingredients needed for that dish.
Add together the market demand value (this is a little subjective; I assigned every interval of demand on the Market App a value of 10, with the intervals being 10%. So 0-10% was 10, 11-20% was 20, and so on) of each ingredient and divide by the number of ingredients to get the average.
Add the average market demand value to the percentage from step 1.
This will give you an idea of how hard it will be to level the dish based on the current market demand.

Why do we want our Restaurant City popularity to be high, and how do we get it there? Popularity in Restaurant City is listed in the top right of your game screen. This is the number next to the thumbs up icon, and measured on a scale from 0 to 50. This is the rating that customers give you based on their experience of your restaurant.
So thats what it is, but here is why we want our restaurant city popularity to be high. When customers have a good (or bad) opinion of your restaurant, it in effect is them telling their friends what they thought and the rest of your customers will react accordingly. When your popularity in restaurant city goes up, the amount of patrons visiting your restaurant will as well.
In order to increase your Restaurant City popularity rating, make sure to listen to your customers. You can do this by watching the cartoon bubble over their heads as they leave your establishment. Each one of these will indicate something to you.
– This shows a picture of a person sitting in a waiting chair, patiently awaiting a table. This is neutral on your popularity because it delays the customer’s opinion which affects your popularity. If you don’t have a waiting area or arcade, customers will automatically give you a negative opinion and decrease your popularity.
– This shows a dissatisfied customer leaving because it took too long to get a drink. This negatively affects your restaurant city popularity level. Other reasons for this happening could be that you don’t have a drink machine but you are serving a drink on your menu. You won’t have to worry about drinks until you unlock them at level 15.
– This shows a customer giving you a negative opinion because it took too long to get a meal. This hurts your popularity in restaurant city because you didn’t have enough staff, or efficient enough staff, to serve your customers.
– This shows a customer wanting to use the toilet, but if you have none it will negatively affect your restaurant city popularity level. You will have to have a bathroom starting at level 8, so before this you will not be penalized for not having a toilet.
Ok, so you are really intense about making sure you are making the most cash per hour out of your restaurant, and as a result, your gourmet points. Since all dishes make you $2 despite the level, the only way to increase your money is to serve more customers and faster. The layout of your restaurant has everything to do with this. So you have some mazes set up to keep your popularity up, and you have island designs to make sure that your waters and cooks get food to the customer quickly.
But with so many different types of restaurant layouts, you are going to need to experiment with a few in order to get the highest rate of money per hour as well as make the place look as you want it to. In order to maximize your revenues, you will have to calculate your current revenue rate. Here is how to do it!
Get your materials ready. Paper and pen, or a word processor type program. Also, get something to time yourself by the minute, such as a watch, clock, timer, etc.
Enter your restaurant interior and make sure your employees are full health. Check to make sure they have the best green smiley face next to them in employee toolbar which shows the percent energy they have. Usually this will be over 80%.
Get your timer ready, and make sure your customers are coming in at an even flow. Now, at the same time, start the clock and record how much money you have at the start of the minute.
At the end of the minute, make sure to record the amount of money you have. This is your standard rate of money per minute, which you should compare your other layout ideas to. If you want the number of meals per minute, simply divide the number by 2.
A good number to shoot for as a goal is about 15-16 meals per minute, or $30-32 per minute. Remember that in order to get this, you are probably going to need to have 50 popularity to keep the customers wanting to come in the door, as well as several staff members.
As you play Restaurant City, you will eventually come to the point where you are wondering how far away you are from the next level. You may be in a position where you need an extra employee, or a larger restaurant, and are curious as to when these may be unlocked. Look no further, we have compiled a great chart listing the experience points needed to level up in the game and what they unlock.
